1 Day Kitchen Knife Making Course
Learn to make a kitchen knife in a day. Join me in my purpose built knife making workshop in the beautiful Norfolk Countryside. The space has been designed specifically for teaching this course. Fully insulated and heated with plenty of dust extraction & ventilation making it a safe and comfortable environment to learn.
This course is designed for anyone and everyone interested in making a knife from start to finish. I will be there to guide you through each step. Everyone comes away with a beautiful knife regardless of ability.
Choose your desired style of knife between a Santoku, Bunka or Nakiri. We will create a custom version of your chosen knife. With a blade length of approximately 6.5 inches or 165mm, it will be an incredibly versatile tool in any kitchen. Made from Razor blade stainless steel it will not only be incredibly sharp, but also easy to maintain and care for.
Make the knife your own by choosing from a wide array of handle materials. Many options to suit your taste, from natural woods to brightly coloured micarta. We will begin with a sheet of stainless steel, handle scales, G10 liners and pin stock. From these we will create a beautiful, high performance kitchen knife.
I will guide you through the process from start to finish. We will cut and shape the profile, drill pin holes, heat treat the steel, glue liners to our handle material, grind bevels, assemble the knife, shape the handle and sharpen.
You will come away with the knowledge of how to make a knife as well as a beautiful tool that will last you a lifetime. It will be even more precious as you will have created it yourself.
There is a lot to get through to complete this in a day so the day runs from 8 30 – 6. Bring lunch and plenty of snacks, I will provide as much tea or coffee as you can handle.
The classes are for up to 2 students and due to space limitations I cannot accommodate spectators. If you book 2 people onto a course a 10% will automatically be added at checkout.
