1 Day Knife Making Course

Learn to make a knife in a day at my purpose-built workshop in the South Norfolk countryside. The space is fully insulated, heated, and equipped with dust extraction and ventilation for a safe, comfortable learning environment. This course is open to all skill levels, and I’ll guide you through each step—from raw materials to a finished blade. Everyone leaves with a beautiful, handcrafted knife.

Process

Knife making is a hands-on, start-to-finish process where you watch your blade take shape at every step. We begin with a flat bar of razor-blade stainless steel and your chosen handle material, then cut and shape the profile, drill pin holes, heat-treat the steel, add liners, grind the bevels, assemble the knife, shape the handle, and finish up by creating a sharp cutting edge.

Handle Materials

You’ll leave with the skills to make a knife and a handcrafted tool that will last a lifetime. It’s even more meaningful because you made it yourself. We offer both kitchen and woodcraft knife courses on all dates, and friends are welcome to make different styles of knives together. Classes are limited to two students, and spectators can’t be accommodated due to space. Book two places to receive an automatic 10% discount. Gift cards are available for the one-day course.
